Report on consumption/production

Calculating consumption or production for a given period is a simple one-step process, assuming there is already a tag representing the flow, rate, ... that is to be quantified. If this is not the case, such a tag can be created as a rate or through a formula.

  • Tableau des statistiques

Navigate to the relevant period and open the statistics table. Here all the corresponding values can be read immediately. Often the total amount for the selected period is of interest, which can be read from the integral value, although the average value could also be interesting.

Avertissement

TrendMiner does not interpret the units of your tag. The integral value calculation always assumes your rate is expressed in 'per day'. When this is not the case (as it usually is not), you will need to correct the outcome by multiplying by a certain factor. If your rate is actually expressed in 'per hour', you will need to multiply the result by 24 to get the actual value.

Using calculations on search results rather than the statistics table

Any workflow where we use the statistics table to calculate metrics for a custom period, we could also apply in bulk to multiple periods in a two-step process:

  1. Feature search

Searching for the periods for which we want to extract the metrics

  2. Calculs sur les résultats de recherche

Add the calculation of the process metrics as calculation on search results. The values will be calculated for all periods at once, and can easily be exported to Excel.

The search and its calculations can be saved, so the analysis can be repeated at any time by simply loading the search.

Report as a moving average tag rather than a single value

When we use the statistics table to calculate metrics for a custom period, we can often also create a tag giving us the average over the last hours, using the average aggregation in the tag builder. The resulting tag can be displayed live and can be used for monitoring. This is only applicable when the value to be reported on is continuous (i.e., there are no periods for which the value needs to be filtered out).
